Overview of our training facility
A new training facility to serve all of RCM-SAR’s members is being built on a recently-purchased waterfront property in East Sooke. The “Glenairley” estate was originally a farm in the late 1800s, a fishing camp in the 1930s, and later a retreat for the Sisters of St. Anne religious order.
Plans are underway for a building to house our Fast Rescue Craft Simulator, a dock for training vessels, and student accommodation and dining facilities.
The location on the Sooke Basin, adjacent to Juan de Fuca Strait, is ideal for all-weather training in seamanship, navigation, communications, and search and rescue.
