The Honourable Janet Austin, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, and Honorary Patron of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) shared a special message to RCMSAR volunteers at this year’s 2021 AGM and Volunteer Awards ceremony that took place on Saturday, September 18.
“Throughout the pandemic, RCMSAR has continued to provide outstanding service to coastal communities from Vancouver Island to Haida Gwaii. Even when faced with the challenge of changing rules and restrictions, the fast and professional response of the RCMSAR in response to marine emergencies in all kinds of conditions has never faltered. I would especially like to acknowledge the incredible volunteers being honoured for their brave service” says the Lieutenant Governor. “They have given their time, their skills, and even their personal safety, to keep their fellow citizens safe on the water. Your spirit of volunteerism, and the guidance of those who lead you, is nothing short of inspirational.”
